Full day workshop on “Making Mauritius a Green Destination”

6th May 2022 – The whole session was animated by our German Consultant, Mr. Andreas Koch from blueContec, and emphasized on giving the tourism operators a better understanding of green and sustainable tourism and how it impacts on their organisation. It also enabled participants to develop clear plans to cut costs, improve sustainability and reap the environmental, marketing, and bottom-line benefits of embracing sustainable tourism.

Our second workshop brought about 50 attendees, with participants and guest speakers ranging from hoteliers, tour operators, leading stakeholders to national public sector.

The programme of the workshop encompassed a series of presentations by Mrs. Shirin Gunny and Ms. Anya Dundoo from Made in Moris on our shared collaboration on two series of Discovery Tour and co-creation process. Highlights of the destination marketing strategies of the MTPA was elaborated by Mr. Robin Ramhit while there was an e-introduction of THE PLEDGE on Food Waste by the Founder and Managing Director of LightBlue Environmental Consulting, Mr. Benjamin Lephilibert. An in-depth understanding of our pilot project “The Wise Dodo” with Mautourco was showcased as one of the achievements of SIM.

The workshops continued with training sessions with an interactive, participatory workshop format where participants were asked to ponder on the following topics:

  • How to start the journey?
  • How to involve your employees?
  • How to measure progress?
  • How to involve your supply chain?
